Graciela Abarca  

M. Graciela Abarca received her Ph.D. in History from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She has received grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Fulbright Program in Argentina and the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. From 1998 to 2006, she was the Program Officer and Educational Advisor at the Fulbright Commission in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

She currently teaches History at the ESL Teachers’ Training College “Juan Ramón Fernández”, the Universidad del Salvador History Department and the University of Buenos Aires School of Economics. She recently participated in a research project on U.S.-Argentine Relations, sponsored by the U.S. Embassy in Buenos Aires, on occasion of the Argentine Bicentennial Celebrations. Abarca has also written articles on a variety of U.S. issues for Argentine and American publications.

Lorenzo Covarrubias  

Lorenzo received his BA in Antropology from California State University, Los Angeles and his MA and PhD in Sociocultural Anthropology from the University of California, Santa Barbara.  He has experience working in US universities (Saint Louis University, CSU Los Angeles, UC Santa Barbara) as well as Mexican ones (Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro, Universidad Autónoma de Sinaloa). He has participated in projects to recreate the anthropological and ethnographic experience in a virtual format, and has a continuing interest in academic exchanges--students, professors, researchers--between US and Mexican universities.

Marinés Fornerino  

Marinés Fornerino is originally from Venezuela where she received her M.A. in Political Science from Universidad Simón Bolívar (Caracas).  In 2002, she earned her PhD degree in Public Policy from Indiana University on a Fulbright scholarship.  In 2004-05, Fornerino was a Fellow at Stanford University, with a joint appointment in the Stanford Humanities Center and the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies. 


Currently, she resides in Bloomington, Indiana where she is working on her forthcoming book, One Hundred Years of Liberalism: The Venezuela that Chávez Inherited and the Venezuela that Chávez is Remaking.  Fornerino is active in international, national, and local politics, working as an English/French/Spanish interpreter-translator and volunteering with various non-for-profit organizations in her immediate community.  Most recently, she was awarded the “2010 Civic Engagement ‘Citizen of the Year’ Award” by the mayor of Bloomington, Indiana.

College Prep Faculty

When you are preparing for college level courses, one of the most important elements is that you can learn from someone with industry experience in the subject. All of IHOU's College Prep instructors have direct industry experience in their course and we believe this benefit will be passed on to each student that completes the courses.

Domingo Salgado  

Dr. Salgado is a Project Supervisor at The University of Portsmouth. His teaching assignments have spanned over eight universities in Europe and the United States. He has a distinguished career in both higher education and industry.

Dr. Salgado also served as Director at The Institute of Technology and Communications, Consultant and Engineer for Cable & Wireless, where he developed technology strategies for some of the world's leading companies, working on international projects in London, USA, Europe and Japan. He has worked with a wide range of clients to enhance organizational performance.

He is devoted to enhancing and expanding students' understanding of business and technology issues. He received several Scholarships from the Ministry of Culture and Education and the Regional Government.

Dr.Salgado enjoys an international reputation as a specialist consultant and has helped world-class industry leading organizations, including Cable & Wireless, S&S and many others improve their business functions.

JoJean Loflin  
JoJean Hansen Loflin

Medical Transcription training 1999 - 2006

JoJean Loflin’s years of experience as a primarily freelance editor and proofreader was an excellent education in preparation for the establishment of a medical transcription business, which she operated for a number of years. Following the sale of that business, she was involved with curriculum development and student support for a highly successful online medical transcription training program, which trained many thousands of students for integration and accomplishment in the medical transcription workplace. Working with productive transcriptionists and with students and graduates from every state in the U.S. and from other countries increased her appreciation for the diversity of human experience. Even more important, JoJean was impressed and inspired by the desire of students to improve their lives and situations through education and to fulfill that desire through hard work and consistent effort.

Ronda Walker Weaver  

Ronda Walker Weaver has over 9 years of experience in higher education instruction; M.A. American Studies/Folklore, Utah State University, Logan, UT.

Professor R. Walker Weaver, teaches History, Writing, and Cultural Studies at Utah Valley University. She is also Assistant to the President of International Hispanic Online University. Walker Weaver was a non-traditional college student, beginning her college career with two school-age children at home.
